•THREAD-JACKING: go for it!
•FOURTH WALLING / CANON PUNCTURE: this shouldn't be too applicable to an obscure book series, but if it comes up, chat with me first, please!
•BACKTAGGING: ALWAYS. PLEASE
•AVOIDED TOPICS: none for me
•PREFERRED GENDER PRONOUN: she/her but I'm not fussed
IC CHARACTERISTICS:
•CURRENT CANON POINT: Post-Revenant Gun, post-Gamer's End, Pre-Glass Cannon
•PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Jedao appears to be a (45??? but in the Hexarchate everyone lives to like 180 so really he looks like he's in his 20s or 30s) year old Asian man who's not particularly tall - probably around 5'7", with a lot of lean duelist's muscle. He has a lot of scars, especially on his chest, which he mostly covers up, but there are scars on his neck and wrist that might be occasionally visible. He dresses either in a red-and-gold uniform or more nondescript civilian clothes with a preference for more muted colors. He's actually a voidmoth, which is a somewhat eldritch extradimensional alien native to "the other side of gate space" composed of a mass of writhing shadowy tendrils. His blood (ichor? whatever) is black and he definitely doesn't have ordinary organs, although he often feels like he is having ordinary human cardiac reactions of his heart pounding. If your character would sense something inhuman about him, I'm happy to chat about it in more detail!
•DEMEANOR: Most of the time, Jedao is more self-contained and subdued. He's quite lonely, but also has a lot of trauma-related reasons for not reaching out. Occasionally, however, he'll dissociate a little and let himself slip into instincts he inherited from Jedao One - or taps into them reflexively in a crisis - at which point his motions become far more lithe and predatory.
•ABILITIES: Jedao Two is a voidmoth, which means he:
- has the ability to sense the mass of objects around him, to an unspecified distance that is definitely larger than the barge, and to a degree of precision high enough to mess with circuitry, although he can't always map easily between unseen masses and what the visual of them would be
- does not age and is immortal/indestructible. It’s been speculated that throwing him into a star MIGHT kill him. His regeneration can put him back together after point-blank shots disintegrating his head, but this level of reconstruction happens on the order of hours or days, not minutes. Smaller repairs happen quicker, and he's able to keep going for a while through numerous should-be-fatal wounds, but he will eventually lose consciousness. Additionally, if he hasn't been eating enough, using his regenerative ability will make him desperately, mindlessly hungry, and he can devolve into a mass of ravenous, writhing black tendrils. He won't regain his human mind or human shape until he's eaten.
- he has the ability to move things through space by "grabbing onto the spacetime weave" although this hurts and is difficult for him to do. He can commit acts of minor telekinesis which only hurt a bit, or pull himself to "fly" rapidly, which makes it feel like all his bones are on fire, especially if he's pulling someone else along with him.
- he can talk mind-to-mind to other voidmoths through spacetime/gravity waves/quantum harmonics or something. This isn't really applicable to anything since there aren't any other voidmoths on board, but if another eldritch-y flavored character wants to be able to chat with him like this, I'm down. In addition, when I played him in the replacement event years ago, the A-team approved him being able to get vague feelings from the barge itself, just like Iris's bus does. I'd love if this detail could be kept, but I get if it's weird for a now-mod character to have that kind of privileged information; if you don't want him to have it, Iddy, I fully trust your judgement.
Additionally,
- like Jedao One, he is a tactical genius. Unlike Jedao One, he does not have dyscalculia. He's not quite a mathematical genius on the level of Kujen or Cheris, but he's quite good.
- although he doesn’t remember his training, he has a lot of muscle memory and instincts from Jedao One that make him extremely good at various kinds of violence (brawling, sniping, dueling, etc), and sometimes he gets instincts about trade-crafty things
- he's also taken numerous Shuos Academy courses in his 2 years of imprisonment. he can hack, and stuff.
- he has an 'augment' in his arm - basically a computer implant. the augment can connect to other technology, transmit/receive data, as well as save files and run calculations for him, but it has limited space and no privileged access or overrides for other tech
•MEDICAL INFORMATION: if he is hurt very badly, his body will regenerate for as long as it has fuel. If he doesn't have enough fuel, he will go into an eldritch fugue state and fully try to eat people. Restraining him and throwing ration bars at his head has a successful track record. He doesn't know any of this, though, since he's from before that canon point. It'll be a fun discovery for everyone!
•CABIN INFORMATION: The cabin door is rounded at the top, with sliding airtight panels instead of hinges, but with none of the clunky utilitarianism of early Earth-based spacecraft. Instead, it's made of a glossy unidentifiable metamaterial, creamy off-white with a faint nacreous luster, and decorated with playful filigree gold foxes gamboling through a minimalist landscape of oversized daffodils and heaps of boulder-like knucklebone dice, like a surreal embroidered wall-hanging.
Inside, it looks like a nice little apartment in "transparently calming shades of green" reminiscent of growing things. It has "modest" furnishings - a table, a couch for three, a chair of pale wood. In addition to the receiving room, there is a "tidy kitchenette", a reasonably fancy bathroom with a tub and lots of fancy scented oils, a study with both traditional asian calligraphy tools and a scifi sort of wall terminal, and a small bedroom. He keeps it all quite clean and neat. His desk also features a small potted onion plant and a little watering can with a lizard on it.
•OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS: Jedao has a whole bunch of feelings on torture and brainwashing.
IC PERMISSIONS:
•MENTAL: Jedao has the ability to speak mind-to-mind with other voidmoths! I'm happy to roll with this for any other type of telepathy, but check in with me about anything more than talking.
•MIMICRY: you definitely can but be aware that as a double, he will be extremely sensitive about it
•VIOLENCE: it's a bad idea but like, please do
•MAGIC: yes, but chat with me first about effect details!
•DEBATE: sure
•OTHER / NOTES: If your character knew the previous Jedao, I OOC am 100% chill with that being addressed; Jedao Two may be tetchy about it depending on the conversation. For those who did know Jedao One, the main differences are body language, the way he dresses, and the lack of the ninefox shadow. He also lacks any of the tattoos Jedao One got aboard the barge. Other than than that, though, they're identical, even down to the haircut.
