It was awhile ago, before we really settled anything between us. But I thought she was overreaching, and I told her she needed to back off a little about you and Will.
Like I said, it was awhile ago. I'm pretty sure at the time, y'all were still pissed at me for the glitter. I don't know if she listened to me or not, but I hope so.
I just mean to say...just because it's easier for me to understand her sometimes doesn't mean I'm automatically closer to her 'side'. If that makes sense.
I was never mad about the glitter. I was a bit sad that I was the Warden that another Warden felt the need to warden instead of talking to me like a colleague. But it was never anger. Not from me. I know Neal was mad. But not… he just… he doesn’t like to see anyone be treated in ways he feels is unfair to them.
But that does make sense. When do you want to meet?
Oh. Right. Well... I knew he respected me and while... while I think he felt the need to develop me more than her, he did always give me a chance to be heard. And he didn't hold panic attacks against me.
...A panic attack? Nothing. I have them all the time. I can manage it. That's... not the part I'm concerned about. Kiryu respected me. I'm not sure whether or not Shaw does. I usually feel like... no. She calls me a civilian, even though I told her I was in the FBI and work for the police at home. ...Do you respect me? Because that foundation makes a difference when things are rocky in the room.
You don't approach things with a soldier's mindset. But her approach is not always most suited to the barge, either.
I don't think you're naive, or that you need to be protected from harsh realities.
[Even if he can be painfully oblivious.]
I trust that you're doing this in good faith, and that you are trying your hardest to do good for the people you care about. I trust that you know yourself and what you need better than I do.
So if you want to handle panic attacks yourself, I want to know what it looks like for us to let you. Time? Space? A few minutes alone to process, or would you rather we stay present and wait without calling attention to it?
Shaw's a soldier. I don't know what I am. But I'm a spy more than anything else, and you don't notice things.
I respect you enough not to lie to you, and pretend there's a simple answer to that question.
For what it's worth...part of being a Shuos is thinking about everyone's weaknesses. There's two, maybe three people on the barge I would say I respect unreservedly. I love far more people than I trust, and that trust is almost always qualified.
I trust that she is also doing this in good faith. I trust that she will do her duty as she sees it. I trust that she is trying to be flexible, even though this process is not suited to her strengths.

Re: Audio; after Shaw proposes Jedao as mediator
As for timing, I'm just a facilitator, right? So that's up to the two of you.
You still haven't told me what you found most helpful of Kiryu's methods, though.

...Is that a 'no' to my question?

So... you don't respect Shaw, either?
