[in early June, a small package will appear outside Jedao's door: a slightly over-long blue-gray scarf, with one long cable running down the center and the ends folded up and sewn to make pockets for his hands.
It's Andan colors, although the hue is a little off, which makes him laugh a little, but warm and soft when he puts it on. He wonders if it was a deliberate choice, given all his turtlenecks, to help him hide his scars. Either way -
Gonou gets a note back in neat ink calligraphy, tucked under his door.
He's not sure why Jedao always keeps his neck covered, but he's noticed -- and noticed the way he huddles in his clothing when he's having a bad moment, too. Warm, soft, and capable of hiding more of his neck and hands had seemed like a good choice.
(Blue-gray, though, was just the only color of yarn he happened to have left.)
He smiles when he finds the thank-you note, in a briefly unguarded moment of real pleasure, and tucks it into a pocket.
